A Mom After God's Own Heart: 10 Ways to Love Your Children

I enjoyed portions of this book, however I felt like the author focused too much on how a mom needs to do this, that, and a mile long list to "save" your child. She even at one point quotes Susanna Wesley "Subdue self-will in a child and thus work together with God to save his soul" and "Never allow a sinful act to go unpunished". (She also jokes about spanking her child at the beginning of chapter 5). She places so much emphasis on what the person has to do to "earn" God's approval rather than on the Grace that God offers us as mothers!
I further question her as an author, however, because she fabricates quotes in the book! She attributes quotes to Martin Luther that he never spoke such as "Spare the rod and spoil the child" which was in fact a poem written called Huldibras not at all related to parenting (actually an erotic poem). That overall bothered me and caused me to question other things she wrote in the book. I like the study guide as a stand-alone apart from this book, however, as I think it allows the reader to dig deep into scripture on the topics she discusses on a scriptural level more than an opinion level.
