I am not a real big fan of the modern romance book. I much prefer a historical novel or a mystery. But there are a few authors who write a good modern book that I enjoy. And let me tell you, Kaye Dacus is at the top of the list!! I recently received her new book, Turnabout's Fair Play, for review and I dove right in. I finished it in about two days;) I am sure many of you will enjoy hearing what I thought about it.

MY REVIEW-This is a book that I really enjoyed. It pulled me into it from the beginning and I didn't stop until I hit the last page:) Kaye Dacus is a wonderful writer that really knows how to get a person interested in a book. Turnabout's Fair Play is the third book in a series called The Matchmakers. I have to tell you, Kaye has been a guest on my blog before and one thing that has stuck out in my mind is, how does this woman write a good romance the way she does when she has never been married!! Believe me, she writes like you wouldn't believe:)

This book deals with Jaime and Flannery. But in the middle of this main plot, you also have a little subplot that is quite interesting. I am not going to tell you a lot about that but it is very, very sweet!! These are all characters who have shown up in the first book and you will also get reacquainted with previous people. It took me a bit to like Jaime. Kaye does a good job at making him seem quite conceited and he almost made me really dislike him. But once you get to know the real person, you see who he really is and I fell in love with him. Flannery is a real sweetheart and I liked her from the beginning. The way she is with her grandfather and the other ladies from the Church makes you love her.

There are many ups and downs throughout this book and at one point I was in tears with something that went on in Jaime's past. If you like a good book with subplots and lots of wonderful romance, this is a book you will thoroughly enjoy. The dialogue between the characters leaves you laughing so hard and yet there is a very timeless lesson about being who you feel like the Lord wants you to be, and not what others want you to be. Really made me think a lot. It has gone back on my shelf and I am awaiting the news of a next one from Kaye. The end of the book is left with no news of another one to come. Will there be another one in the series? We shall see:)

I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing for review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.
