I got Three Christmas Wishes by Sheila Roberts in the mail a little over a week ago. I think I was reading another book and it was a very busy week and then weekend. In any case, I finished reading it this morning. I squeezed it in between work; a sewing group, which I teach; doing housework and laundry; taking the grand kid to the movies, bookstore and grocery shopping. Now that's my life, which if you haven't read a book by Ms. Roberts, then you wouldn't know that her books are exactly that, about life. In the meantime, their sprinkled with things you think but just can't say out loud.

A little bit about this book. There are thee central characters, but one could be considered the main character, Riley Erickson, whose fiancé dumped her for one of her friends (who's incidentally her bridesmaid) a mere month before their Christmas wedding and over the phone, no less. She quickly realizes that he wasn't the one and thanks her lucky stars for saving her from a dismal mistake,

Then there's her best friend Noel, who writes children's books and loves her rental house, which her landlady is in negotiations to sell for a song to a....horrors....flipper.

Then there's Riley's sister Jo, who's pregnant and about to pop. Her husband is currently serving in the NAVY and he wants to re-up to get the signing bonus but she wants him home with his family.

These three friends decide to go see Santa at the mall to ask for what they want for Christmas. He tells Riley that she's going to meet her perfect man in a memorable way. He's going to give Noel a good man to go with that house she so desperately wants. And Jo will get a new man too, but why when she already has a perfect man, she just wants him to stay home!

I loved reading about these three friends. This book is a bit of a departure from Ms. Roberts's recent books, which have been set in Icicle Falls, this one is set in the town of Whispering Pines, which is also a fictional town, because it's not set in NC! Ms. Roberts will make you laugh your way through the book and may even make you shed a few tears!

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm part of Ms. Roberts's street team and got this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
