I'm fascinated by Alaska so this book was a no brainer for me. Kaylie Fletcher grew up in Alaska climbing mountains at her parents insistence since a young age. When she leaves at 16, it is with the intention of never returning to a life she hates. Even after hearing of her entire family's death from a disastrous climbing expedition, Kaylie doesn't return. However, when she receives an off the wall phone call from a mysterious caller informing her that her mother is alive, she heads back to Alaska to investigate. Of course, her return is during a snowstorm and the only way to get to the sight of the accident is by helicopter. Enter Cort McClaine into the picture! He is a gorgeous dare-devil with a death wish...a type that Kaylie has sworn to avoid. But his attractiveness and personality quickly get the better of her and they become involved. Bad things start happening rapidly after this meeting and it's one thing after another after another that keep them in each other's company.

The diabolicalness of the villain is amazing. I narrowed it down to two people but couldn't figure out why. The suspense is non-stop and the romance is heart-breaking. When two very different people fall in love and live in different states, even in a romance, it's always a toss up whether or not you're going to get that HEA.
