This is the marvelous account of 5 missionaries who worked and ministered to the Auca tribe in Ecuador and were subsequently killed by them. These missionaries were the fathers of children still in diapers. If you saw the movie , the book is better~ of course! The wives that remained committed to this mission and stayed later saw tremendous blessing~ I won't spoil it for you!

Jim Elliot wrote, before his death, "He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot loose". Wow! Great words to live by!

Years ago a pastor's wife told me she was a student at Wheaton College when the announcement came that Jim Elliot and 4 others were martyred. She remembers the stunned hush that went over the campus and then ,suddenly, students all over the campus dropping to their knees to commit their lives to full time service to the Lord , many of them to the mission field. Many kids go to Bible College just as an extention of their education or to "meet someone" as a future spouse. The Holy Spirit used this tragedy for the greater good sobering and maturing Christian young people to serious commitment to the Lord.
