I loved this book. You felt as though you were in this small town with all its petty mindedness and insularity. At the same time, some characters had such wisdom. The story was compelling because , unlike today, when the small boy is killed, they want to pretend it is an accident. The editor of the small town newspaper wants to find out the truth and drag the town, kicking and screaming , into the future. You instantly side with him and his reporters. And each description is better than the last.
