In Not By Sight by Kate Breslin, Grace Mabry acts on her beliefs that she is aiding her country's cause when she and a friend plan to pass out white feathers of cowardice at a masquerade ball. She has no forewarning of the coming consequences her actions will have on the lives of others. The story follows Grace after her father sends her to work in the Women's Forage Corps as punishment for her actions.
This story tells of patriotism, love of family, heroic deeds, foolish actions, forgiveness, and the mystery of Lord Roxwood. I did find myself getting the ladies Grace works with in the Women's Forage Corp (WFC) confused from time to time and had to go back to prior pages to re-orient myself. I liked the way Grace grew and matured over the course of the book. This book is going on my keeper shelf.
