This is a very inspirational quick read. Even though I have seen "Shindler's List" this book gave more insight into who the man really was and how he used his personality to manipulate the Nazi's. What I did not know was how difficult his life was after the war because anti-semitism was rampant and people would sneer at him on the street. There are five main stories in the book and then six shorter stories at the end. This book tells the stories of non-Jews who risked their lives to save people during dangerous times. It makes me wonder if I had lived during that time and place would I have been one of those people that risked my life to help innocent people or would I have been like most people that turned them in to the secret police? I would like to think it is the former but I honestly don't know.
