Of course, the big question about David Brock and his mea culpa in Blinded by the Right is, if he says he was lying before, how do we know he's not lying now? I think the way to tell is to look at the consequences to him of publishing this book. Pre-publication, he was financially more than comfortable as, in his words, an "attack dog" of the radical right. Furthermore, even if he was uneasy in his position as their token gay man, and increasingly not happy with his attack dog role, at least he had a clearly defined role in that world. Post-publication, the economic hit he took was significant; in fact, he had no job for some time. He had to establish trust and credibility with those he had been sliming and slandering for years. And his role was far from clearly defined. Under the circumstances, I think it is clear that we can trust him now.
