After his first wife took half of everything he owned in the divorce, it took Reese Duncan several years to build his ranch back up. Now he is thinking about getting married again and decides the easiest method would be to advertise for a bride. He wants a woman who is the opposite of his first wife. She must be willing to help out on the ranch and give him children. Madelyn Patterson is intrigued when she reads the ad. She is a city girl who is bored with her life and knows nothing about working on a ranch. But she answers the ad knowing chances are she'll never hear from him.

This is a contemporary mail-order bride romance. Reese drove me more than a little crazy. He would constantly worry that Madelyn would turn into a clone of his gold-digging ex-wife. He would convince himself that she just married him for the ranch, and worry that when she went to town she would not be back. I thought she should have used a 2x4 to pound some sense into him. Madelyn was a smart woman who loved her husband and the ranch and wasn't about to leave. She didn't put up with Reese's overbearing personality and wasn't about to take the blame for the things his ex-wife had done to him. I thought it was great when she finally put him in his place. My rating: 4 Stars.
