This book was wonderful. The tension between teenager Deveaux's blossoming faith and tough things happening in her life is played out beautifully. Her life as she had known it has been turned upside down when her father declares bankruptcy and the family moves from an upscale home in Charleston to the caretakers run-down cottage on her father's family's former plantation. The contrast between "city kids" and "red necks" is very honest as she learns much about human character and life-changing choices.
I highly recommend this book.
