Emilie Richards' writing has been described as stitching togeter the mystery of a family's past with the moral delimmas of the present and that was certainly the case with Whiskey Island. It's the story of three sisters who reunited at the Whiskey Island Saloon after a time apart and began to learn more about themselves, their relationships, their family and their ancestors than they ever realized they could or would learn. The ancestors were Irish immigrants who settled in Ohio. The story relates their struggles to survive and tragedy that struck them. There were secrets that were kept for years which finally were revealed to the sisters. It was a very good read. A love story for sure but much, much more.
