Allie's book sucked me in and didn't let go until I finished reading the last page, with a happy sigh and a smile on my face. I read Homefront Hero on a car trip and then stayed up late that night to finish reading. I read several funny scenes out loud to my husband, including the one where John tells Leanne that he will be one of her students. The romantic moments woven throughout this story, including several involving knitting, were spot-on. The drama of the influenza epidemic is what sticks with me now, several days later. I need time to finish digesting all the little nuggets of wisdom and lessons tucked here and there throughout the story. Homefront Hero is a keeper! I'm hoping to see more historicals from Allie, maybe one about Leanne's friend Ida...
