This is not a warm and fuzzy tale. It is the story of a Polish woman living in America, about 20 years after WW2, who thinks she is the long lost daughter of a Jewish family. She believes her father, Jake Landau, has just died, and tries to prove that she was his Jewish daughter, adopted by Poles and raised Catholic, during the war. She has unexplained memories of her "other family" and tries to gather evidence proving that she is Chava Landau, not Karolina Staszek. The book has a surprise ending.
