Miss Clarendon is really Lady Clarendon, who is now on her own, and has no funds. She refuses the help of the man her father entrusted her to, and decides she must work for a living. Her family's lawyer is appalled, and sets up a safe haven for her with a widow and her children. But, the widow seems to think Miss Clarendon is there to find a husband. Between the widow, and the attorney, Miss Clarendon's life becomes something more than she knew it could.
