Victoria Garrison is a "modern" 1890's working woman who wants to know the who, why and where of every situation. When Ross Laramie is hired by her father as a range detective, Victoria wants to know all the whys behind that hiring. What she finds out places her and others in danger from which Ross must try and rescue them.
This is the 4th book in the Rancher's Daughters series. The books do not need to be read in order to be enjoyed but it does help to understand many of the family dynamics, especially that of Jacob (the father) and his many daughters. I have enjoyed each book in the series as Ms Jocks creates very strong female characters who are vulnerable but at the same time stand up for themselves especially against their father.
