Heart-pounding and disturbing. It shows the extent man will go to for power, even if it is causing the fellow man pain. In this book there is a secret government agency. This agency tortures humans beyond comprehension. To the point that they have become secret weapons. It doesn't matter how much pain these people go through or the lives they were taken away from. All that matters is the outcome. Using them to rid of what the government considers bad people.
Here, Joe runs the show. He is content with his job. These people are just numbers and they get the job done. Joe is proud of his work and what he has accomplished. But when his work spreads to his home life and starts to affect his daughter, he finds that maybe his job isn't all it is cut out to be.
This book was creepy and fast-paced. It has quite a few disturbing and graphic scenes that had me cringing so definitely not for the faint of heart. I'm eager to read another Payne book!
