For me this is one of Rebeccas slower paced books. It seemed more drawn out than her other books but I liked it none the less.
I thought the characters were well defined and showed them at their best and the issues and feelings they grappled with were real.
I understood why Nick wanted to find a girlfriend as quickly as possible to stop his interest in Samantha from growing but of course that didn't work.
I was a little surprised that Jessica got so angry with her mom when she found out some facts. It seemed a little over the top from how I have seen kids react but it resolved some issues in the story so I see why she did it.
