Book Review of Blood Ambush

Blood Ambush
Blood Ambush
Author: Sheila Johnson
Genre: Nonfiction
Book Type: Paperback

An interesting enough crime, but we didn't get a very full view of it from this author. There was more than enough info to understand one of the killer's bi-polar illness, and her sense of entitlement to do as she wished. The other killer, her alcoholic physician boyfriend, was a shadowy figure. Perhaps the author could not make contacts to get a full picture of how he was drawn into her plot, but it was disappointing to hear only about one of the players. There were plenty of references to the female killer's ex-husband and his new wife who became the victim. One of the ideas the killer presented was that her ex-husband had maintained a sexual relationship with her and she viewed him as exploitative. After nearly 25 yrs of her crazy behavior that is questionable, and the book does nothing to clear up the claims or even really discuss them. The victim is largely a cypher. In some spots reporting of what happened was very detailed, but overall it just felt like the author hadn't put in the time and effort to get a full understanding of the cast of characters. A medium-interesting book.
