If you've been reading Josi Kilpack's culinary mysteries, and wanted to read everything she's published, you need to be prepared for a change of pace.
This book is deep and thought-provoking, definitely not a quick or light read. I also had a hard time putting it down, because the story was very well written.
The book covers a serious and challenging topic, and Kilpack does it it a compassionate way. I would highly recommend this book.
