  He's like the wind,
Ever moving
Ever changing.

At first,
Caressing
my delicate
shoots and leaves
With a gentle breeze
tender
as a
lover's breath.

Trying to
hold onto
him,
he
slips
through my fingers
like
the nebulous whisps
of a cloud.

The breeze changes
and I am drawn
inexorably into
his passionate storm;
Sucked into the whirlwind,
down into the Maelstrom,
branches
shaken
to the roots,
trunk bent
nearly
to the ground.

Will he leave me
with branches
stripped bare,
trembling
in the aftermath
of the storm
or torn
and broken
with roots upended?

I glance up
and he's
already
moved on,
a light zephyr
now dancing
over the meadow
and playing
among the
new spring flowers.

What gorgeous imagery you use to evoke the vicissitudes of love... The metaphor of the tree - its trunk, branches, roots - is lovely and vivid.
