***This poem was written in remembrance of my fiancee. It has since been set to music and posted at Jamwave...where it is a beautiful reminder of a love I don't forget. There’s a place I still remember Where the water stops and sighs, For it’s holding all the memories Of the laughter in your eyes. If I sat there for a lifetime Would my heart be satisfied? Would the emptiness inside Ever replace the tears I’ve cried? It’s a long way to fall From the place I once belonged. It’s a hard road to walk When I walk it so alone. Was it yesterday we whispered All the dreams we’d never see? Can’t remember if we promised Or just hoped we’d always be. When I look into your picture How I wish that you were free To pick up the empty pieces… Lord, they’re all that’s left of me. It’s a long way to fall From the place I once belonged. It’s a hard road to walk When I walk it so alone. Did I tell you that I love you, Did I say it clear enough? Were there any doubts that lingered, Were there moments it was tough? Did you know I’d never leave you, Did you recognize my trust? Did you know I’d always need you, Did you know I always must? It’s a long way to fall From the place I once belonged It’s a hard road to walk When I walk it so alone. It’s a long way to fall It feels so empty and alone I can’t bear the road I walk Dear God, please don’t let it be long.
