Where were you when you invented the orange? Were you standing on Everest, were you tasting the sea's sodium consistency, were you writing your name on every molecule of the sun? Was your heart excited? Was it a thought before time began, or was it something that you cannot describe to me because I only know earth and air and fire? I know You! In this fruit, this ripe ovary, you've hidden vesicles filled with a taste I will never forget from this world. They’re grown from perfect trees with strong branches and slick leaves. When did you begin to invent these? How did you absolutely decide that carbon dioxide and water would feed the leaves and that oxygen would become the tree's waste product? A product that I must breathe. Where were you when you decided that gravity would pull an orange from its branch and that orange would land next to my head as I rest underneath it’s shade? My mind crashed through your veil and now I’m not sure what I believe. Was I a spark of peace and a radiant tear of joy out of your eye? I only ask because I write beautiful things that end up cursing you or your precious humans I’m here with. I have questions and I know you built me to explore and search, but my greed wants to charge you with discrepancies that I’m quite sure I've caused myself. Where did I fit into the equation of Oxygen and Polonium? & are you still excited?
