  Carved from the Black Forest
as ancient as the time it keeps.
A displaced chateau
with oak leaf pendulum
and pine cone weights,
minutes counted by the links
of a slender brass chain.
A dairymaid and woodcutter
tirelessly dance
in an endless circle
keeping time with every beat
of the mechanical heart.
The cuckoo, with infinite patience
stands watch above to announce
every successful revolution.

Political commentary, or am I reading too much into it? I especially like "as ancient as the time it keeps" an, of course, "every successful revolution."
