  S

The serpentine slither
of S across the pages
makes a sudden showing
in the most curious places.
Sometimes the Sidewinder
doubles back on itself
to strike at us
from behind the vowels.
Sliding through
the sentences
it strokes all of our senses
with its sensuous shape,
both sinful and saintly.
Always present.
S is in all the best
and all the worst.
