I ordered 2 books from the same member but only received 1 - nicely sealed up all by itself.  Both were marked mailed, and I have no idea why they were sent separately (or only 1 was sent).  I thought I'd receive the other one the next day, but several days later I'm still waiting.  I'm not sure how this works, as I've never had this problem before.  Is it possible to only mark 1 of them received?  Or when marking 1 received, will it automatically mark the whole shipment received?  Before you ask, no I haven't PM'd the sender yet.

Yes, there is an option to mark only one received.   Mark it Received With A Problem, then:

  • Book Missing from Shipment (this option will show only on multiple-book shipments)
    • this means that the book was not included in the package with the other books (either the sender forgot to include it or the package tore open and one or more books fell out)

Then this happens:

  • Book Missing from Shipment (this option will show only on multiple-book shipments)
    • You will have a text box - the text you type in will be included in an email, and sent as a Personal Message, to the sender.
    • Choosing this problem type option will NOT mark the book received.  It will send an email to the sender alerting him or her that the book was missing from the shipment.
    • If you don't get this book by the system action date, the book will be declared "lost in the mail" - if you get it after that, you need to mark it received from your Transaction Archive, as described in I received a book that was 'lost in the mail'.
    • If you don't want to wait for the system to declare the book "lost" you can ask the sender to contact us to cancel.  You can contact the sender using the PM button on the request on your My Account page. The sender can contact us using the "send us feedback" button on the Contact Us page.

What Emily said.  Hopefully she still has the other book and can send it to you.

You might want to make sure the one book you received actually came from the original member you ordered the two from.   If that member cancelled for some reason, the books would have rolled over to the next person in the FIFO line for each individual book, and so would be coming from two different senders.

It's from the right person.

In my experience, it is surprising how many members don't know that bulk mailings can save you money on postage -- it may be that the books were wrapped and mailed separately and you simply haven't received the second book yet.  But I'd PM the sender and see what's going on.

Cattriona, I have had that experience also....... folks who think they have to ship books separately when a person orders multiples.....that's the whole premise behind "order more" ......to save on postage!

But what Robin described has happened to me too...... I did the "order more" option, then for some reason the original sender doesn't complete the order so  unknown to me my "bulk order" then goes FIFO to 2 separate senders.  Confusing when you don't know it's happening.
