I just wanted to clarify the rules. I had a wishlish hardback but I was hoping to put it in here in order to not have to send it out as a single book. But when I read the rules, it appears that unless you can list more than ONE WL book, then you just have ot use the FIFO system. Is that correct?
I'm also wondering, it seems like new books in the FIFO system have suddenly (in the last few months) slowed WAY down, and I'm wondering if it's because everybody is using this program to keep books out of FIFO. Seems a bit unfair to those of us who can't check this group all the time...

Robin this forum is for Multiple Wish list books only. Maybe you can hold onto it until you read another wish list book and then put both of them on here. I don't think this forum is reducing the number of books going out, for one thing most people aren't members of this forum and for another most people don't participate in the forums at all. Also the books going out on this forum usually go to people who already have them on their wish list and when we get a book and read it we repost it. I'm still getting and sending wish list books from non forum members. If anything I think it is the cost of postage that is slowing down the number of books we are getting. |

Yes, Robin, this thread can only be used to offer multiple Wish Listed books. When you have another Wish LIsted book to offer with your hard cover you can offer it here. This is to ensure that people are not using their Wish List books to make people take non-wishlisted books. People can allow people to select non-wishlisted books, they just can't have that as the only option. The number of books offered in here isn't even a blip on the screen of the books offered on PBS. I don't think more than a 100 books are mailed in a month by all the people offering in here, yet in any given week over 40,000 books are mailed out through the system. |

>> I'm wondering if it's because everybody is using this program to keep books out of FIFO. Seems a bit unfair to those of us who can't check this group all the time<< Hi Robin, I think because you have one wishlisted book you may not be able to put yourself in the shoes of those of us who have 50. :) I have 20 Hardbacks WLed right now, that's $3.08 a piece to mail or $61.60), and 30 other paperbacks that are WLed ($2.47to mail or $74.10) Not sure what is "unfair" to you, or anyone else, that I can't spend $135.00+ to get books out to members this week. :)
As much as books feed the soul, most of us still need to eat. LOL If nobody gets them here, I usually budget a little here and there to send some of these to FIFO. Little by little. :) That's not counting the books I do send out as singles that are regularly ordered off my regular bookshelf. :)

I'm also wondering, it seems like new books in the FIFO system have suddenly (in the last few months) slowed WAY down, and I'm wondering if it's because everybody is using this program to keep books out of FIFO. In my experience, that's kind of normal for this time of year. There's usually a big spike in Jan/Feb for people who got new books for Christmas, and then it slows down a bit until about May/June when people start their summertime reading. There's usually another big spike in Aug/Sep for more of those summer reads, and then it slows down again until after Christmas. But that's just my experience. :) |
