Adele Scheele, PhD, is a career coach and author on the subject. She is among the first to practice in the field of career coaching and is author of the career strategy book, Skills for Success, published by William Morrow and Company, Inc. in New York (1979), and in mass paperback (1981) and trade (1996) by Ballantine.
Scheele was born in Philadelphia and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. She subsequently earned her Masters Degree in English from California State University, Northridge, and her PhD from UCLA in 1976 as a Change Management Fellow.
Scheele began her career teaching English to college and high school students and negotiating labor contracts for the AFL-CIO. In 1977, she created a career coaching practice for individuals, associations, organizations, and universities.
Scheele wrote a King Features syndicated column, “At Work,” from 1982 to 1985. Her book Career Strategies for Working Women (Simon & Schuster, 1994) was compiled from her “Career Strategies” column which appeared in Working Women Magazine 1990-1994. Scheele hosted a 3-hour KABC TalkRadio show on work and appeared on NBC’s Today Show and ABC’s Good Morning America.
Scheele served as the Director of the Career Center for California State University, Northridge, from 1994-2004. Her most recent book is Launch Your Career in College (Greenwood, 2005).
