Arlen Gargagliano, is a writer, educator, and television personality. A native of New York, she earned her BA at New York University and her MA from Hunter College. She has lived in Spain and Peru and has traveled extensively through Latin America.
Starting out as an ESL textbook writer and teacher, through her Latin American travels Gargagliano began collecting local recipes and then trying them on her neighbors.
Gargagliano is a former assistant professor of English as a second language at Concordia College, Bronxville. She was also formerly a teacher and college administrator for Westchester Community College's Adult ESL Program.
Gargagliano is currently teaching a course that she designed, "ESL Through Cooking", at WCC's Mount Vernon extension site. She has appeared in numerous TV spots, including Univision's morning show, Despierta America, NBC’s San Diego Morning Show, NBC’s Weekend Today Show, Telemundo, MegaTV22, News12 (Westchester, New York), and cooking demos throughout the United States.
Arlen Gargagliano lives with her husband and two children in New Rochelle, New York. She continues to travel throughout Latin America, where she gives workshops to both teachers and students of English on the subject of writing.
