ETA: I originally watched this as an Anime (cartoon) story. The Anime lasted 3 seasons (3-years). The basic story line is two guys in High School (10th, 11th, and 12th grades) join-up to do Manga's One does the drawing and the other does the writing.
Story covers 10 years in the lives of these two guys in their efforts to become a top Manga author/illustrator and to one day get their manga turned into an Anime version. A lot is riding on their efforts - chief among them is the love and possible marriage on one of the guys who has a high school sweetheart who wants to become a 'voice actress' and perhaps one day provide the voice to an anime character created by - well you guessed it - the artist of the manga etc etc etc.
The Anime was excellent and is known as Bakuman 1, Bacuman 2, and Bakuman 3. This Bakuman Complete Set covers the Manga industry, the Anime Industry, the voice actor/actress industry as well as 10 years of living for teo manga artists and all they have to endure to try and make their dreams come true.
In a word - stupendous!
