1st - I'm a male. This title just knocked me for a loop. Just had to check it out...half of the things in here was just plain over my head - couldn't see the "Joke" in it, the other half? Welllll - it had me on the floor laughing my a-- off! I'm sure the lady's would get all the humor, us men folk...well some times we're just kinda dense.
Highly enjoyable, highly recommended for light fun reading!

If you're about to take the plunge into a ready made family be prepared. This book will give you some heads-up of what to expect and perhaps how to avoid making mistakes that be difficult to undo between you and the child(ren).

This is how I got started reading back in the 3rd grade - comics from the papers and magazines put into a book form (I started with Chas Addams).
This one has a full daily cartoon strip (4 panels) for each page (224 of them). Enjoyable for all ages and genders. If you get the young ones started then they'll have to figure out the funny-side of some of these. Sixth grade and up would be fine.
Recommended for all.

Fourth book in a 6 book series, each running from 180 to 200+ pages. Scholastic 'certified' - says ages 9-12 but I'm pushing 60 and enjoyed all 6 books. I think 9 and up is just fine. Enjoyable read for both girls and boys...
NOTE: These books need to be read in sequence.
Tal and Milla are back in the Castle in the lowest levels of the Underfolk - dissent amongst some members of the Underfolk at their lot in life has been brewing and Tal and Milla need the help of these people. Milla is sent back to the Icecarl world to inform the Crones of all that has transpired. The Crones 'share' the experiences of Milla and learn of her breaking the Icecarl taboos - what should they do with her? Meanwhile Tal and Underfolk dissenter Crow move up through the multiple levels of the Castle. The suspense continues...
I give the complete series a 4.5 stars - Book one sets up the story line and world parameters so is a little slow to start - but quickly builds up speed and excitement leaving you with a literal cliffhanger waiting for the next book - fully enjoyable for anyone (girls and boys).

Any book by Eric Sloane is a true gem. This one is no exception. 5 Stars.
Landscape format book. It's a picture book but w/o the pictures. Artwork is hand drawn and is excellent.
Beautiful artwork and a little bit of early americana history about (early) barns made here in america. How there were raised, built, types of wood used, types of joints to hold things together.
A true treasure of a book. I keep my copy and look through it several times every year, and have for several years now.
Highly recommended. And if you can find a copy of his "An Age of Wood" get it. It's another treasure that you'll never want to part with.

Surprising!
Just thought that this was about the regular Gargoyles figures that one would expect to find any where in Europe only here in America...there's that of course but the nice surprise was the 'new' American styled figures inspired by American Icons thru the 'new' ages of Americana and perhaps a little whimsy.
How about Athletes such as Football player, Soccer players, Discus Throwers? Add in some new animal gargoyles such as Poodles, Pigs, Flower Dogs, AMerican Eagles, American Rattlesnake and a whole lot more.
Many of the pictures are listed with the location(s) where they the picture was taken at, in case one would like to perhaps make a trip to observe these in person (a Gargoyle Vacation?)...
Instead of a Coffee Table book this is more like an End Table book...not too big, not too smnall...not too thick, not too thin...just about right for everyone to hold, read or just plain look at...
Quite enjoyable.

(Big) Picture book - American Gas Stations from the 40's thru the late 60's. This is the type of book you will want to keep on your coffee table so that your guests and visitors may pick it up and view just the pictures.
Beautiful photograpy, a little history. Wonderful to thumb thru. If you're an old timer (Baby Boomer) these pics will bring back wonderful memories. If you're a young pup then this will be picures to enjoy of what america once had and was (hint: there was no self-serve pumps).
Recommended for those who really enjoy just thumbing thru a good picture book.

Forty-Two stories of Americana History, the story behind the story, things never published in the history books, but which really make America "America".
A little aged (1976), but a very good read. You'll be tempted to read the whole book in one sitting. However, pace yourself to one a day - you'll find yourself re-reading some of the stories over and over again.
For a trivia nut or history buff - this is a find, for the rest of us its fun to read!

A wonderful anthology of old and mostly new authors, including Clinton, Hemimgway, Fitzgerald, Steven King, and a host of others (77 total authors, - 22 ficton stories - 44 poetry - 14 documents (letters etc). There's something for anyone and everyone.

Treasure trove of hiking/camping/trails information. While this is is from 1981, the information within is still applicable. Today more areas are open and cleared for camping and hiking. This little book has elevation maps, guides, camping locations and a ton of other information kept at your fingertips while on the trail.
Good for review if you've ever given thought to hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail (goes from Maine to Georgia and on down to Arkansas(?)

I love to read Ask Marilyn. This book has 311 pages of questions and answers from her column over the years.
This book is broken up into 5 parts:
1) The Pleasure and Pain of being Human
2) Politics and the Press
3) Nature at Work and at Play
4) Thinking about Thinking
5) Questions that need no Answers
(with a chapter 35 "The Funniest Questions)
The first four parts were very interesting and usually consisted of seriuos questions or observations from external readers and Marilyn's response to those questions (and sometimes with a short explanation to you the reader of the book concerning the Q and A to help clarify). Absoulutely enjoyable.
Part 5 "Questions that need no Answers", Chapter 35 The Funniest Questions was worth the price of the book alone. All of the book was enjoyable, but the best was saved for last. This last chapter will have you falling out of your chair laughing, period. No matter how crusty you may be.
I repeat - Highly recommended.
