Anyone, no matter where they live can love this book. Even though I am from Maryland, I never really understood the watermen, the way of life of the people and the critters, or the economy of the area. Beautiful Swimmers is really a beautiful little book.

Obtained book because it was recommended as a resource for information on blue crabs. It is not all that informative and tends to wander off on tangents with a lot of historical lore thrown in. It was not exactly what I was looking for.

Written in 1970s and is now a classic. Interesting reading, very real insight into an interesting part of the USA.

Wonderful, wonderful book! It's an older book, 1982, but it is the story of the blue crab, the Chespeake Bay, and a way of life that is all but gone.

This book takes you into the lives of everyday people who fish crab on the Chesapeake. It is a funny, warm and fascinating look at at a quickly disappearing niche in a nation preoccupied with rush hour and the latest technology.Illustrated with beautiful black and white drawings.
