Beezus and Ramona - Ramona Quimby, Bk 1 Author:Beverly Cleary, Louis Darling (Illustrator) Beezus Quimby's four-year-old sister, Ramona, is exasperating. Ramona always manages to get her way. Poor Beezus, she must be the only ten-year-old in the world with such a pest for a sister. How can she learn to love and accept this four-year-old terror?
Beezus and Ramona (along with Cleary's other famous character, Henry Huggins) were a mainstay of my childhood reading diet. I picked this up again recently and was amazed at how this book has stood the test of time. Yes, it was written some 50 years ago - but in the end, kids are kids and we all know a Ramona.
This is one of the books that truly turned me into a reader. I think I was about 8 when I first started reading the Ramona books. If you have kids (girls OR boys)that range in age from 6-12, these books are perfect. I have started reading them to my boys and they crack up on almost every page. Ramona is a trouble maker, but has a great heart! I am excited because I get to read them to my boys as an excuse to hear them all over again!

Big sister Beezus Quimby tries to be patient with her little sister, Ramona, but it isn't easy, not when Ramona powders her nose with marshmallows and invites her whole class to a party without telling her family. Sometimes Beezus doesn't like Ramona, but the girls are sisters and that means they will always love each other-just not every single minute.
