Without more information it is difficult to determine why this is happening. My initial guess is that the books were not removed from your shelf correctly and that they continued to be listed after you thought they were no longer there. As a test you could try removing one or several books from your shelf and then check to see if they were indeed removed. If not, check your procedure to see if it was user error and try again. If the book or books were removed you can simply repost them, but at least the test can help determine if it is something you are doing wrong or if it is a system glitch. If you try this, however, it would be best to test with books that don't have any other copies posted in order to ensure you don't lose your place in the FIFO. (To see how many copies of a book are currently posted, search for the book using its ISBN and then add it to your reminder list. Then check your reminder list to see the number of copies available.) This has been discussed here recently in regards to books that were ordered and sent out in swaps. There is occasionally a glitch where a book will show up again on a shelf, though the transaction archive clearly shows the book went out and was received by the requestor. |

Thanks for the replies. Here is what I do. I go into my bookshelf page, check the box beside the books, then at the bottom of the page I click delete. I have gone into the bookshelf the next day or so and it is not on my bookshelf yet I still receive a request for the book. There is or was one today, I answered the request with no longer on bookshelf. What is happening and any suggestions? zipper28 |

Same thing has happened to me this past week. When searching for the "why has this happened" I found I have a 'reminder list' with 75 books that should be in my Transaction Archive. I know this is a system glitch because 8 of these books ARE in my TA. I have never used the PBS Reminder List for anything.

Here is a link to a another discussion on this topic, Request for books I no longer have (4/15/2014) And here is a link to a recent discussion on a similar (possibly related?) problem that appears to be connected with BOB (Box Of Books) requests. Books Still on Shelf but Traded Already? (9/7/2014) Since others are also seeing these problems, it looks like there may be an error when the system updates members' bookshelves in certain situations. If you think it is a system error, then you should send feedback to the Admin Team using the Contact Us link near the bottom right of any PBS page. Be sure to include details along with ISBNs, titles, and dates if known.

It's happened to me twice recently. I keep lists of my available books, so I know it's not on my end. |

Once a book has been requested, it will no longer be on your bookshelf. So if you get a request, then check your bookshelf to see if it is there, it won't be. The request moves the book from your bookshelf to your main My Account page. When the request appears on your My Account page, the date you posted the book to your bookshelf will show in the transaction box. Make a note of the date, then sort your bookshelf by date. Take a look at the other books you posted at the same time, and it may ring a bell for you. Seeing books I posted at the same time as the book I'm looking for has helped me remember that stack of books that I set on the bottom shelf. It is possible for a book to be double posted to your bookshelf -- if you double click on the "post" button when adding the book, or you you happen to post during a server hiccup. To see if you have any of these on your shelf, sort by title and scan to see if you have any doubles.
But the book had to be on your bookshelf at the time of the request. It could have originally been double posted, and you mailed it off, or it could be that you included as a freebie in a package and then didn't delete it. I have suspected cases where it was some kind of glitch, but when I researched -- or asked the Admin Team to research it -- that was never the case. If you think something odd is happening, though, print out your bookshelf sorted by title (not author -- books without an author listed won't show up when you sort by author, but they are still posted), and then refer to it when requests come in.
