Richard Clement Charles Thomas (28 January 1929- 5 September 1996) was a international rugby union player. A [[Flanker (rugby union)|flanker]], he represented Cambridge University R.U.F.C. in the Varsity Match in 1949 and, after making his first-class debut with Neath RFC, played for Swansea RFC and Coventry RFC. He earned 26 caps for Wales, between 1949 and 1959 and captained Wales in his last nine internationals.

Thomas was also a member of the last Wales team that defeated the New Zealand All Blacks in 1953. In fact, it was Thomas's cross field kick that enabled Ken Jones, the flying Welsh winger, to gather the ball and touch down for the winning try.

He toured South Africa with the British and Irish Lions in 1955, playing in the last two international matches against and subsequently wrote a history of the Lions which was published just after his death in 1996.

Thomas was born in Cardiff, educated at Blundell's School and married Ann Barter in 1954. He had three sons and one daughter and died in Swansea.
