As a newbie to quilting I find this book to be very user friendly. The instructions are clear and the author writes as though setting across the table enjoying time with a friend who wants to know about quilting.
I would recommend the book to anyone who has interest in quilting but has been intimadated by pros books that almost scare a beginner away from this wonderful craft. I loved the simple patterns that make a beautiful finished quilt. I give this book 5 stars!

Wonderful tips about making a quilt using her methods. This book is easy reading and is a rubber meets the road kind of book.

Colorful diagrams are very helpful and I am really excited to tackle the Star Burst quilt. It looks like a giant snowflake when completed in the limited colors of blue, gray and white as shown in the book. For diamonds this is also something I have not tried due to all the bias edges. The author actually makes this a project with easy completion directions as well. I am an intermediate level quilter with a love for getting my quilt top done. I get bogged down with little pieces of fabric and love useful techniques without spending more money on specialty rulers/tools. I have so much time and money, this book is wonderful in helping me be more efficient.

There are eighteen quilt patterns in the book. The boomk also has factoids regarding each quilt or quilting in general. This one is a keeper for my sewing library.

My seven year old granddaughter decided she wanted a pink and purple quilt for her birthday from her Nana... and only two weeks away! So, I made the Irish Chain (pg. 20) in five shades of pinks and three shades of purples. Plus, I lucked out finding a pink sheet with giant purple butterflies on it for the backing! She wanted her mom to hang it on the wall, not put it on her bed! As I was a newbie, all the stitches and seams are not perfect... but she thought it was!
