Can you credit another member for getting you into PBS?? Do they earn books for this?? Can you earn books for getting others involved/?? Just curious. If so I would like to credit the person who got me into PBS.

If you gave PBS their name when you joined then they got either 1 or 2 credits for the referral.

You can always buddy them a credit. Go to their profile. At the top of the page you will see a button that says "Give Credits"

Here is the help topic for referrals: "How do I refer others to PBS"

However, I don't know if you can still put someone down as referring you after you have signed up.  I actually would like to know myself because I referred my friend and she put down that she was referred by a friend.  However, she did not remember what my PBS name was when she signed up so I was never put down as her referrer.  Does anyone know if there is a way to put the referrer in after signing up? Would my friend have to email PBS about it?

I believe you have a choice of giving either their PBS name or email address when you join to give referral credit.

You can actually give someone credit for a referral retroactively.  This is from the help center:

Someone referred me, but they didn't get credit for the referral!

If you were referred by a PBS member but that member didn't get a credit for the referral...

This means that you have either not Posted 10 books to your PBS bookshelf yet, OR you did not  provide your referrer's PBS Nickname or PBS User Email when you registered, and the referral was not recorded.

  • Full name alone will not work at registration to record a referral: too many people share names

To record the referral:

  • Contact us and provide one of the following:
    • your referrer's PBS Nickname
    • your referrer's PBS User Email (the email address at which he or she receives PBS mail
    • your referrer's full name AND city/state
  • The referred person must contact us to get the referral recorded; the referrer should not contact us.

You do not earn referral credit for accounts at your own household, or accounts that violate the Terms of Use.

Oh! That was actually one of the related links on the bottom of the referral page. I guess I missed that.

Thanks, I'll let my friend know =)

Speaking of referrals - we can put a link to PBS to become a member to our normal emails.  This wouldn't be appropriate for work, but personal emails would work.  I've done it.  Has anyone else done this and gotten someone to join?  The good thing about the link is that it automatically tells PBS who referred them.  I just don't send emails enough for it to get to anyone that might be interested.
