Ellie Crowe is an award-winning author whose books deal with Hawaiian topics. Crowe co-authored of HARDCORE INVENTING: Invent, Protect, Promote, and Profit from you Inventions, and authored Hawaii, A Pictorial Celebration and Exploring Lost Hawai'i, which was selected as an award-winning special interest book in 2002 by the Hawai'i Book Publishers’ Association and received a Hawai’i Tourism Authority “Keep it Hawai’i” award for Excellence in Literary Arts.

Her biography Surfer of the Century, illustrated by Richard Waldrep and published in October 2007, received excellent reviews including a starred SLJ review, a Bloomsbury favorite book of 2007, and the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature for Best Illustration in Children's Literature Award.

Her biography Kamehameha received five awards for excellence from the Hawaii Book Publishers’ Association and the Kahili Award in Literary Arts in the 2004 “Keep It Hawai'i" awards.

The author has been interviewed on the Travel Channel, the History Channel, and the University of Hawaii’s Topic Hawai’i, and extracts from her books featured on TV series Haunted Hawaii and Places of Mystery.
