A steamy, erotic read by Anne Rice (she writes erotica under the name Anne Rampling). I don't get much into erotica, but I did enjoy this book.

If you're expecting a retelling of the cutesy movie with Rosie O'Donell and Dan Akroyd (which I LOVE) - this is NOT the book for you.

Frankly sexual, disturbingly romantic - a very spicy read. The love scenes are...er...unconventional but captivating - if you are easily offended DON'T EVEN THINK about this book! If you are very open-minded and think that anything between two adults is good for them...try this! Think Drama/Erotica/Romance with a bit of recreational Sadomasochism thrown in...the book, unlike the movie, is NOT a lighthearted comedy, I'd call it more a dark psychological romance.

ALSO TRY: Belinda (written by Anne Rice, some older copies will say by Anne Rampling), or the Sleeping Beauty Series...the books are called The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment, and Beauty's Release), written under the pseudonym Anne Roquelaure. These are considered modern erotic classics, right up there with the Story of O (a good deal more interesting, if you ask around).

A different twist for Anne Rice, not as erotic as the Sleeping Beauty series, but definitly erotic and full of games and mystery.

WOW! I am amazed with this book. It explores some very touchy sexual issues. BDSM is not as taboo as it used to be, but this book brings it fully to a new awareness. I was pleased with how tastefully, erotic and true to it's subject that it was. Not to mention it shows those who participate in a lifestyle different than the normal can still be normal people who love and live a life much like the rest of the world. I will definitely be keeping this one and will likely read it again. I recommend it highly for the curious.

Very erotic. A little slow in the middle, but the first half is VERY interesting. Slightly predictable but still enjoyable.

Anne Rice writing as Anne Rampling has written a book about a fictional vacation paradise called "The Club" where no aspect of
sexual pleasure is forbidden.Sexual bondage ; pleasure and pain
found in an earlier book called "The Story of O" is also found in
this book by Rice who formerly wrote about vampires.

I liked it. Different from her beauty series but still another unique world of bdsm from Anne Rampling.
