After 15 years, Mariah is reunited with her long lost brother. It is at his ranch where she also meets his best friend Cash. Cash thinks she's just another woman looking for a 'free ride' & vows to avoid falling for her contrived vulnerability.

Mariah is a 22 yr old virgin who has spent most of her sheltered life in her studies at boarding school. She is almost immediately attracted to the tall, sexy stranger. But she is as naive as she is inexperienced.

A light, sensuous love story. Enjoyable, albeit predictable. (4 Stars)

One of my favorites.

These four books have the laugh and cry moments in them, with cry mostly toward the end (until the happy ending of course, they are romances after all!)

The four connected SD's in order are
Fire and Rain - Luke MacKenzie and Carla McQueen
Outlaw - Tennessee Blackthorn (ramrod on Luke's ranch) and Diana Saxton
Granite Man - Cash McQueen (Carla's brother) and Mariah MacKenzie (Luke's sister)
Warrior - Nevada Blackthorn (Tennesse's brother) and Eden Summers

Warrior is my favorite of the bunch, but all are pretty good. The only complaint is the story patterns are very similar across the four books. At least the characters are different and the details. They are still fun to read. There is also a hunt for Mad Jack's gold mine that runs across several of the stories.

Reckless Love is a western adventure. It is a distant pre-quel to the four Silhouette Desires. It is the story of Janna Wayland and Ty MacKenzie. Mad Jack is a character in this book and a legend by the time of the four follow-ups.

I loved the series Lowell did here- this book was from a series about the Mackenzie and Blackhorn families. This had Mariah Mackenzie as the heroine. It was a good story.

I love Elizabeth Lowell, but this was not my favorite book she has written.

Maariah MacKenzie had returned home to her Colorado ranch, with nothing but a battered car, some clothes and a map for gold. And what she got was an ornery prospecting partner named Cash McQueen. (back cover)

From back of the book--
Mariah MacKenzie returned to the family ranch determined to reclaim a life she's longed for...and to search for a long lost gold mine in the land of her ancestors. Cash McQueen was a distraction she didn't need, a temptation she didn't want-but the only man tough enough to be her guide on a bold quest for the legendary treasure....
