I have a young friend I met this weekend who is a fairly new Christian. She is a young (mid-20s) single mother and is wanting to find a book about a young mother who becomes a Christian. Do any of you know of a Christian fiction book with this type of storyline? I couldn't really come up with one. Thanks in advance! Rhonda |

I always recommend Karen Kingsbury's books ... there's something for everyone in her books. |

Flabbergasted by Ray Blackston is written from the pov of a male single Christian, but as a female I found it very appealing and down to earth. The Yada Yada Prayer Group series by Neta Jackson brings together a bunch of women from all different walks of life and different places spiritually. I highly recommend that series. Worlds Collide by Alison Strobel is about a couple who discover their faith and each other. SAHM I Am by Meredith Efken features moms of all sorts Queen Esther and the Second Graders of Doom by Allie Pleiter is good mom lit The "Claire" series (Leave it to Claire is the first one) by Tracey Bateman is about a single mom Autumn Blue by Karen Harter Melissa |

I'm in the middle of @ Home For The Holidays by Meredith Efken. I'm enjoying it. I should probably back up and say that my friend is a fairly new Christian. She is a single mother with two young girls and apparently is looking for a book about someone that basically mirrors her life. I don't know if one such as that even exists.

She might enjoy Beauty for Ashes Link, just a little Heartsong book, but maybe similar circumstances. One Tuesday Morning and Beyond Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury are ones she might be able to identify with. The main character loses her husband and had a daughter to raise on her own. I just read this Christmas romance, For a Father's Love Link, which includes a mother and her two children, who were abandoned by their husband/father. He is a dead-beat dad type and part of the plot includes how one of the children deals with it. The book is very well written. Handyman by Linda Nichols Link is about a single mom dealing with typical single mom issues. I'll Be Home for Christmas link is a great little story about a single mom and her 2 kids that are homeless, and how the mom is determined to make it on her own. Loving Tenderness by Gayle Gaymer Martin link is about a single mom. I can't remember the details very well, though. In the historical fiction realm, I recommend Stepping Heavenward link and The Widow of Larkspur Inn link. I hope this is helpful. Kay
