This book was facsinating! It was passed along to me from a friend and I didn't think I'd get into it. I like reading memoirs and this was amazing. The editor pulls the auto-biography together with footnotes and references at the back of the book which puts a time line together of the early 1800's. There are photographs of the author and copies of original letters and correspondence from the time. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in historical memoirs, slavery, black history or just out for an interesting read.

A fantastic narrative of the life of a slave woman. We are all familiar with the injustices of slavery, but to hear the first hand account of a slave is gripping.
