He has taught business and social capital courses at several universities and sits on the Board of Directors for the Colorado School of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Misner has advocated the teaching of networking skills in university business studies curricula. In an online TV show in 2009 he commented:
Most people just basically wing it when it comes to networking, and one of the reasons for this is that we don't teach people in colleges or universities how to build their business through referrals - we don't teach them how to network. ...We need to start teaching it there or we need to have businesspeople go to after school programs, post-graduate training on how to network if they want to do this effectively.
