J. Abbott Miller or Abbot Miller was born in Indiana and studied at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York.

Miller is a graphic designer and writer. He is a partner in the New York office of the design firm Pentagram. He edits 2wice magazine. Since 1997 Abbott has been co-chair, with Ellen Lupton, of the Graphic Design Department of the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Abbott Miller is also married to Ellen Lupton.
