Joel Fuhrman (born December 2, 1953), is an American author and board-certified family physician who specializes in nutritionally-based treatments for obesity and chronic disease.
Fuhrman, who was born in New York, New York, is a former world-class figure skater. He was a member of the US World Figure Skating Team and placed second in the US National Pairs Championship in 1973.
Fuhrman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Health Association National Health Association - About Us (Board of Directors) He serves on the Advisory Panel of The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, as well as on the medical staff of Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey, where he specializes in nutritional medicine.
Fuhrman is the author of six books. He has appeared on several radio and television shows.
