John Mole (born 1941) is a British poet and jazz clarinettist.

He has won several prizes for his poetry including an Eric Gregory Award, the Cholmondeley Award, and the Signal Award for children's poetry. He is Writer in Residence at Magdalene College, Cambridge and Poet in Residence to the Poets Society in the City of London.

John Mole has written many poems for children. He regularly visits schools for poetry workshops. His poems include “Variations on an old Rhyme” and “The Balancing Man”, both of which discuss political issues in a manner relevant to young people.

He wrote the libretto to the opera Alban, a community opera which was set to music by Tom Wiggall and performed in May 2009 in St Albans Cathedral to great acclaim.

He has recorded a reading of his poetry for the Poetry Archive which is now available on CD.
