It took Julia a long time to get over her broken engagement to David Damron. But when she learned that he had married a wealthy European woman, she knew that she must put the past behind her and forge a new life for herself...alone.

Possessed of a healing touch and well versed in the secrets of the mineral springs that gave the town of Hot Springs its name. Julia soon gained the reputation as the "Lady of the Mists". Gradually, her broken heart began to heal.

Then she was summoned to Stillmeadows Plantation to try her healing skills on a crippled bride - the bride of none other than David Damron. She was troubled by David's disturbing attentions - and by her own disturbing response. But even more troubling was her sense that she was not welcome in this dark and sorrowfull household. Day by day, the hostility grew, the whispers increased, the chill in the air thickened. Until Julia finially realized, in terror, that she was not only unwelcome but in deadly danger.

What is the danger?
