The first book I've read by this author, I now want to go back and read the first two books in the series, Power Down and Coup d'Etat, even though The Last Refuge can be read as a standalone. With several key players and non-stop nail-biting action, The Last Refuge is taut, shrewd and well-researched. Once the main stage is set, the plot twists and turns, pulling the reader along for the ride. If you enjoy this genre, you definitely won't want to miss this one.

Very good book

Enjoyed very much. Action packed, engaging, good character development. Looking forward to future books!

Having already read the two Dewey Andreas sequels by Coes which I found very exciting, each in its own way, while I found The Last Refuge an excellent thriller ride, in comparison I can only give 3 stars where I might otherwise have given it 4. Either way, if you enjoy fast-moving thrillers with plenty of international intrigues, a bit of romance and sex, and not bothered by explicit violence, this is certainly a must-read.
