Loved the first Camp Half blood series. Really enjoyed this one. I love books that I can enjoy and that my kids can enjoy. Leads to a lot of good conversations. I love the interweaving of mythology in these series.

Yeah, I'm back.

This is the first of the sequels to the Percy Jackson series. The inside flap and Amazon can tell you more of what its about than I can, but was it good? Well, we have 3 viewpoint characters - amnesiac Jason, Piper - daughter of a movie star and Leo - an ADHD tinkerer and runaway. It opens with a bang and gets moving from there. The history of the half bloods is touched on again and Riordan still has fun adapting and modernizing gods, monsters and myths. Plus, the occasional touch of satire. The myths Riordan draws from are less well known - the Tvtnagbznpul - but still terrifying in their own way. Did I like it? Yes I did. I think I like it enough to see what the second book in the series is like.

After reading the whole Percy Jackson series of books and enjoying them tremendously, I decided to buy this book by Rick Riordan just a few weeks after it came out, and boy was I impressed! This book is different because new characters are introduced, the main one being Jason and his two other teammates Piper and Leo, who have numerous adventures and death-defying cliff-hangers throughout the book. In this book Percy Jackson is never seen, but he's still important because he's missing and is being searched for by all of his friends from the earlier series. This book has a very interesting twist in how Jason and Percy are connected.

Great adventure reading that also educates about history for either a kid or an adult! I am really looking forward to reading the second book in the series, "The Son of Neptune" coming out in the fall of 2011!

Love love love love this book! I think this new series which incoporates the old characters in with the new ones is going to be fabulous! If you enjoyed the Percy Jackson series you will enjoy this new one too. I am eagerly waiting for the next book in the series coming this fall 2011!

Hint up on your ROMAN gods before reading...
