This story takes place in 1155. It is quite different than other historicals as the characters are very devout Christians. They each turn to prayer a lot and believe and trust that God is in control of their destinies--even when it doesn't make sense. The story does not read as an inspirational romance, but reminds us how important religion was in that time period. Although you feel Richard and Isabel's frustrations due to their misconceptions, there are definitely some steamy scenes to save the day. Claudia Dain is a good writer and I particularly liked the time period she chose.
